Parmar Mayank
UDAYPUR, DECEMBER 29, 2011: Two day exposure visit to Udaypur was organized by Fr. Mayank and the DRISTI team for the SHGs leaders on December 21- 22, 2011.
The main purpose was to bring out leadership among the women. This whole programme was part of the DB Action India an NGO network of Don Bosco.
On the first day we went to a village named Kesuli. Majority of the panchayat body of that village consisted of women. The women shared their personal life experiences; the hardship they faced and the struggle in their own family as well as from village people. The women also shared how with the help of "Aastha" an NGO working for the empowerment of women through federation were able to overcome the difficulty they faced. Our women were enthused and were grateful for the sharing done by the women.
In the afternoon a session was conducted by a team from Aastha in which they spoke of various federations they have formed and the outcome of these federations. Late in the evening a session was conducted by Fr. Mayank sdb, Ms. Daksha an SHG member and a teacher and Mr. Sanjay our SHG animator. The session consisted of the review of the entire day's events. The things heard, the thing seen and what could be the learning to take home.
There was an immediate reaction among our women. One of the women who is a sarpanch said that she would play a more effective role in her village. All the women said that they would take upon themselves and the responsibility of forming a federation. Women appreciated the work DRISTI does in their respective villages and were grateful for this visit. The women requested DRISTI to lend them supportive hand in realizing this dream of forming a federation.
The following day the women went out for site seeing.
