NERUL, DECEMBER 30, 2011: 'The School is a building with tomorrow inside.' The future citizens are shaped inside its walls, and under its roof.
On December 21, 2011, the Management, Staff and students gathered in the School Assembly Hall to invoke God's blessings as the Provincial, Rev. Fr. Michael Fernandes blessed and inaugurated the "Work of Human hands" the Junior College Building of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul.
The first phase of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul was completed under the able guidance of Fr. Boniface D'souza and blessed on August 15, 2006 by Rev. Fr. Ivo Coelho.
Around two years ago the construction of the second phase began under the management of Fr. Vivian D'Souza, Fr. Monty Rodrigues and Fr. Anthony Fonseca and was completed this year.
The short, but solemn programme began with the dignitaries, the Provincial Rev. Fr. Michael Fernandes, the Vice Provincial Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, Province Procurator Fr. Edwin D'Souza, Rector of Don Bosco Matunga and Nerul Fr. Jude D'Mello, our Manager Fr. Bonnie Borges and our principal Fr. Anthony Fonseca, lighting the lamp signifying God's illuminating presence which dispels the darkness of ignorance and of sin.
A graceful prayer-dance added to the prayerful mood. After the dignitaries were felicitated, Fr. Michael addressed the assembly with his Christmas Message, since it was the season of Advent and the last day of school before the Christmas break. He narrated a story about a Christmas programme put up by some students in which the participants were to display individual letters which spelt the message 'CHRISTMAS LOVE'.
However, one little girl held the letter 'M' upside down, and oblivious of the error she had made, she happily continued the formation. Actually it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as the message now read, 'CHRIST WAS LOVE!!'
God truly works in mysterious ways what may seem a disaster in human eyes, may be a message from God.
Fr. Michael, then said the Prayer of Blessing and unveiled the slab on which, Deo Gratias was engraved. The dignitaries then proceeded to inaugurate and bless the three floors of the new building amidst the joyous applause of all those gathered.
It was truly a moment of pride and joy.
"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it". Fr. Anthony Fonseca then delivered the Vote of Thanks to the dignitaries with a special mention about the Provincial Economer, as well as Fr. Boniface D'souza, Fr. Vivian and Fr. Monty.
The dignitaries were escorted to the Refectory while the students waited for their Christmas Programme which followed immediately after.
