BORIVLI, JANUARY 05, 2012: As we read the daily newspaper every morning, we surely come across at least one article on some accident that has occurred in some part of the city due to reckless driving. The fault could lie with any party, but that is irrelevant at that point of time. What matters the most is the need to save lives! It's at this moment we wish; we could have someone educate the general public about the do's and the don'ts of driving, especially the energetic and the hot- blooded youth.
We, at Don Bosco High School, Borivli, were more than glad to receive a letter from the Traffic Police dept. to conduct a session on a similar topic with our boys. The RTO officers from the Borivali zone were invited to speak to our boys on the road safety rules on January 04, 2012. About ten RTO officers graced the occasion with their presence. They started off by explaining some basic traffic rules to the boys and also brought in some charts and pictures to emphasize their points.
The boys were later divided into smaller groups. These groups were expected to present themselves on the busy traffic roads and junctions mainly to make the riders and the motorists aware of the ill effects of rash and negligent driving. Students were also given hand bills to distribute among the vehicle drivers. The local police helped the boys in conducting this awareness programme successfully.
It was indeed a very fruitful endeavour. It was not only the riders and the commuters who learnt, but also our young students who benefited from the exercise.
WISHING ALL OUR RIDERS A VERY SAFE DRIVE IN THE CITY OF MUMBAI
