LONAVALA, FEBRUARY 29, 2012:  A ray of hope was kindled on February 25, 2012, as it was a special day for the village children here in Lonavala.  The Aspirants of Don Bosco Lonavala under the able guidance of Fr. Dominic Martis organised 'Maria Ashiana'  a day for the children of Maria Ashiana' and the children from villages in and around Lonavala.
The day began with the aspirants going to their respective oratories and gathering the children and accompanying them to Maria Ashiana. The registration desk efficiently collected the names of the children and distributed T-shirts, caps and games coupon to all the children. On arrival the children were served delicious snacks.  A mini fete was the highlight of the day, the children with the games coupon participated in a number of fete games earning prize coupons which was remunerated with attractive prizes.  At noon the festive lunch prepared by the kitchen staff of Don Bosco Lonavala gave rise to countless and unending smiles on the faces of the children.  With the lunch setting the perfect tone, the cultural programme was the perfect icing on the cake.  The children proceeded to the down hall of Don Bosco Lonavala for the cultural programme.  The chief Guest for the occasion was Fr. Wilfred Fernandes the Parish Priest of St. Joseph's Parish Lonavala. The children from various villages came forward to perform for the cultural programme. The cultural programme concluded with an inspiring message from the Chief Guest.  He congratulated the Salesians of Lonavala along with the aspirants and the support staff for making this day possible. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. 
This day was a great learning experience for the aspirants here in Don Bosco Lonavala, as they enjoyed being with the children and witnessed the Gospel truth that it is in giving that we receive joy and happiness.
