WE LIVE AND DIE, CHRIST DIED AND LIVED

Alex D'Mello

BORIVLI, APRIL 10, 2012: New life began on Easter and the fulfillment of the promise is complete. Jesus has conquered death.  For some, resurrection of Jesus is still a mystery but for us Easter is the foundation of our faith. The Resurrection of Jesus is the heart of Christianity. As St. Paul wrote, "If Christ had not risen from the dead, our faith would be in vain" (Cor15:17).

As Easter brings light and hope we, the parishioners of Borivli longed for this celebration. Fr. Ronnie was the main celebrant at the Eucharist, the visible sign of our faith. In his homily he mainly dwelt on a new life with Jesus. The Resurrection of Jesus invites us to hope when given unto despair, to believe, to love when our love is rejected and we are tempted to hate, to pick up our broken lives and start again. The Resurrection is the good news that Jesus conquered death and so will we. The Risen Jesus can work miracles every day in our lives if we allow him to do so.

There were eleven Catechumens who received the sacraments of initiation during the Easter Vigil. Fr. Ronnie, quoting from the prophet Isaiah said that "You are here because God has chosen you, do not be afraid, God loves you and you are precious, God has been with you in your thoughts and in your spiritual journey." You belong to this vast parish community and will grow with this community; you will be called to witness by your way of life. Allow Jesus to work miracles in your life.

The choir led by Mr. Amon Daniel made the Eucharistic celebration more meaningful.

Christ has risen for us. Alleluia. May His Resurrection usher a fresh lease of life for us.
