TANAKHLA, APRIL 16, 2012: Don Bosco Tanakhla was happy to welcome forty three youngsters on April 13, 2012, from various parts of Mumbai. These youngsters ventured on a 'holiday with a difference' to the Salesian Missions of Gujarat.
The boys were led by Fr. Brian Moras, Fr. Glenn and their team. They reached Tanakhala at around 11.45 am. Fr. Rosario Vaz along with other Salesians led them around the house giving them a brief explanation about the different activities and projects that the community is doing. The youngsters from Mumbai have brought a big smile on the faces of young people at Tanakhla who were learning different skills. After a short visit to the different departments, all the youngsters gathered together for lunch which was prepared with lots of love and care. The food was simple and everyone enjoyed each other's company.
Shortly after lunch all the youngsters were led to the onion field to start the harvest. It was a wonderful site to see the boys harvesting onions in the hot sun. I believe they had an experience of working in the felid and they did enjoy harvesting for fifteen minutes. Later that day they were led to see one of the biggest Dams in Gujarat "The Sardar Sarovar". Through the influence of a catholic person the youngsters were able to visit the Hydroelectric Power Plant and even got to view the site of water storage.
This trip brought about an awareness among the youngsters regarding the importance of water and electricity. Later they carried on to Don Bosco Kawant. Over all it was an enriching experience for all of us. We are glad to see so many youngsters still having the desire to say Yes to the Lord and to serve His people in His vineyard.
