A CALL TO BE A SALESIAN

McEnroe Lopes, sdb

VASAI, MAY 18, 2012: A month long English Speaking Course held at Jyoti Mata Church Vasai, concluded on May 16, 2012. The highlight of the day was the musical 'A CALL TO BE A SALESIAN' staged by the boys of the Course. The script of the musical revolved round the lives of the boys in a Don Bosco Aspirentate and the challenges they faced to answer their 'Call' to be Salesians. It ended with the boys standing hand in hand and paying tribute to Don Bosco by singing the Salesian Anthem.

A short prize distribution followed rewarding the teams and also some exceptional individuals. The days' proceedings came to an end with Fr. Vishwas addressing the gathering where he exhorted the boys to never forget Don Bosco and wherever they are to always keep in touch with the Salesians.

The musical proved to be a good stage for the boys to explore their talents of acting, singing and dancing. The hours of practice that went behind the staging of the musical brought the boys together and helped them to grow in unity and teamwork.  Present for the function were the parents of the boys and the Parish youth.

This course was held from April 15 to May 16, 2012. During this course the boys were given some basic skills in English in the areas of Grammar, Composition, Vocabulary and Conversation. The boys were also introduced to Don Bosco's education system. Overall it was a month of learning English, growing together as a family and instilling in the boys love for Don Bosco.
