PAST PUPILS' PROVINCIAL COUNCIL MEET

Wenceslaus Pinto

KURLA, JUNE 13, 2012: The Provincial Council held on June 10, 2012, at DBCL, Kurla brought together twenty-one representatives from Borivili, Andheri, Kurla, Matunga and Wadala.

The programme commenced with a prayer song through a power point presentation prepared by Mr. Amar; Mr. Joseph led us in the past pupils prayer.

Kurla Delegate, Rev. Fr. Adolph spoke on the training courses offered in the DBCL: namely ITI, Marine, Engg. MBA, Hotel management and BMS. The ITI began in the year 1965 with only hundred and fifty students; the current strength being three hundred and eighty and growing, targeting thousand students by next year. He told the Past Pupils "you are a great support to this entire running and educating the young for their livelihood", and concluded by telling them that they had a huge task to perform.

We then proceeded to the Agenda of the day. The President Mr. Ketan Gala welcomed the gathering, and invited the Provincial Delegate Rev. Fr. Wilfred to speak. The latter welcomed one and all for their presence and thanked Fr. Adolph for the farsighted development of DBCL. He also thanked the Kurla Unit for hoisting the meeting. He said, "I am extremely happy and privileged to be in Kurla, a place where young adults are equipped with a great future for themselves and the country. He exhorted the Past Pupils to become Autonomous that is; they do not have to always lean on the Salesians to strategize and work out their plans. But there is need of Communion with the Salesians, and the whole Salesian family in order not to set out on a wrong track. Our vision must extend to the local, provincial and world wide expanse of the Past Pupils Federation.

The Secretary, Mr. Wenceslaus Pinto then read the minutes and reports recorded since the last meeting. Mr. Ketan reported on the recent impressive gathering of hundred and eighty Past Pupils of Gujarat. He concluded by thanking the Executive and the Council committee members for the cooperation extended during his term of four years. He added that we met several times and the fifty eight planned programs carried out were indeed greatly appreciated.

The next AGM together with elections for the new Executive Council members will be held on July 15, 2012 at 10:00 am at Matunga.

The meeting concluded with a thanks giving prayer by our Delegate.
