GOD - THE CENTRE IN YOUR FAMILY LIFE

YERWADA, JUNE 29, 2012: Parishioners of the Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada, celebrated their church feast Sunday, June 24, 2012.The occasion was preceded by a novena, which commenced from June 15-23, and culminated with a well-attended con-celebrated Eucharistic service at six, on Sunday evening.


Fr. Salvadore Pinto of the Poona Diocese was the main celebrant, and Fr. Polly D'Silva of Nashik Diocese, gave the homily stressing family life and its relationship with God. "People are moving away from God," he said, "and that's why we see so many crises in the family. We will never be satisfied with worldly things," he added, and urged the faithful, "to let God his rightful place as the centre in our life."  


One of the unique aspects of this celebration was the renewal of the marriage vows by couples present – who were asked earlier to sit together, so they could go through the complete renewal – including the exchange of rings. All this took place during the mass. At the end of the Eucharistic celebrations, there was a felicitation of SSC and HSC students of the parish who passed the recently concluded exams with flying colours.


Later, notwithstanding the humid weather, the occasion was fittingly concluded in a festive atmosphere with distribution of snacks for the congregation. The English and Marathi choirs - Celestius Harmony and Suwartha - delighted everyone with their renditions of sacred music during the service.
