A MARIAN EVENING AT BGVK
Bento D’Souza sdb
BHINGAR, SEPTEMBER 04, 2012 : After the success of their first Marian evening for hundred youth of Ahmednagar city a year ago, BGVK decided to do the same again. Seven students from Bhingar and twenty two from St Anne’s, Collector’s Office attended the 'Marian Evening' at BGVK from 6.30 to 9.30 pm. Frs. George D’Abreo and Rolvin were the Masters of Ceremony.
They took the youth smoothly through the paces and made sure that devotion to Mary was the priority of the evening. The evening began with a procession. The installation of the Statue of our Blessed Mother in the Atrium followed. Various representatives from Salesians, Salesian Cooperators, Youth Animators and Youth were invited for the Lighting of the Lamp.
The Rector gave a message instilling love and devotion to the Mother of our hearts. The Marian Evening consisted of lively games, quizzes, exercises, role plays, competitions, contests, ulta –pulta, jig-saw puzzles, advertisement creation and role plays. It finally ended with a double or quits gamble. Points were scored and tallied to give the Mathmauli Team the ascendancy, followed by Lourdes, Vallankani and Fatima Teams.
A vote for thanks by both St. Annes and Bhingar brought the Marian evening to a close. Prizes were distributed to all the participants. Fr. Satish Kadam, Diocesan Priest from Ghodegaon was present and helped with the scoring and judging. Shaila Coutinho was the score keeper. The Salesian Co-operators involved themselves in guiding the groups in their group session.
The Marian Evening roused the dormant devotion of the students towards Mary, the Woman of the Bible. The participants also gained a lot of knowledge about the Mother of the Saviour, who is also our Mother Queen and First disciple.
Congratulations to BGVK for its renewed entry into the Salesian work of empowering youth in their Catholic faith and Devotion to Mary.
