NASHIK, SEPTEMBER 25, 2012: “A memorable evening”, remarked one bright-eyed youngster in his local language at the close of a day sparked with vibe and enthusiasm.
The Annual Oratory Football Tournament organized by the brothers of Divyadaan, the Salesian Institute of Philosophy in collaboration with the brothers of Salesian Training Institute was held here at Don Bosco Marg, Nashik. The event witnessed the participation of fifteen teams from around different parts of Nashik City.
The programme commenced with the inaugural prayer service and the traditional lighting of the lamp. This was followed by the players pronouncing their commitment towards fair play in a spirit of sportsmanship. The games kicked-off at 9.20 a.m. and continued till 1.00 p.m., when the boys broke off for lunch. The games resumed after lunch and the stage was set for the final showdown.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Vilas Shinde and Mr. Tukaram Morade, Nagar Sevaks of Nashik, and Mr. Dilip More, communication officer. In his speech, Mr. Villas spoke on the need to be sincere and honest not only on the sports field but also as individuals in society. He also commended the hard work put in by the brothers in organizing this tournament.
The finals featured a close neck to neck encounter between Ganesh Nagar and Kamgar Nagar and in the end it was Kamgar Nagar who emerged victorious. The day concluded with the much awaited prize distribution ceremony. Jerseys, medals and trophies were awarded to the winners and runners-up, while all participants received certificates.
