FAMILY CELL OF WADALA (W) HAVE THE FAMILY DAY OUT

WADALA-MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 26, 2012  :    The Family cell of the Our Lady of Dolours, Wadala, embarked on an ambitious project for this scholastic year. We sought to build up the families in the parish and the first step was to bring a bonding among families.

To facilitate this, the cell under the inspiration of Fr. Vivian D’Souza thought of taking groups of families to our Institute in Lonavla for an overnight/day stay and through a process of interaction, seek to bring about this bonding among the families, who in turn would bond with those in their neighbourhood.

To set the ball rolling six families and four single adults of the Family cell visited Don Bosco Lonavla on the September 19, 2012. We were twenty two in all. This visit will be remembered and cherished for a long time. It was an experience which helped the family members strengthen their bonds and understand family values.

The group left for Lonavla early morning and after a sumptuous breakfast provided by Fr. Cletus and community, and a visit round the Institute, we settled down to three interactive sessions conducted by Fr. Vivian.

The group through a process of group work reflected on the call to discipleship in family life, a sharing of some problems faced in families with how they coped with them, a sharing of some

family experiences and the role of prayer and intimacy with Jesus and with the family members. We at no point of time felt stressed out or bored but enjoyed and opened up all those areas which were touched upon.

All in all the sessions taught us one thing that most of the problems in family life can be resolved by prays to God and communication with each other.  The sessions were followed by lively games which we all enjoyed and had fun.

We proceeded to the chapel for a very meaningful mass. The chapel is Holy Grounds and you can feel the spirituality all around you. Fr. Vivian celebrated the mass and it was one big family uniting with God.

Later it was time to say good bye and leave with a heavy heart. We left our sorrows and worries and brought back memories which we will indeed cherish for a long time. We would like to thank Fr. Vivian, Fr. Cletus, Fr. Godfrey and the Team and Members of the Family Cell for making a dream come true.
