ALL IS WELL, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
Students of Class XI
BORIVLI-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 23, 2012 : On October 19, 2012, Fr. Anthony our Principal gave us a huge surprise!! He gifted us a session with Fr. Allwyn and Mr. Harry Menezes who came all the way from Borivali, just to spend time with the XI Std. students in Don Bosco School, Nerul.
The seminar was based on 3 things i.e. moral values, life skills and objectives of our life. The motto was ‘I know, I can, I must, I will, I think, all is well, the best is yet to come”.
Fr. Allwyn summarized that the most important things in our life are Love and belonging, health and happiness, self-esteem and spirituality. Life is full of adjustments, not achievements and in order to get along we need to transform ourselves, our world, choose forgiveness, love and compassion.
The next part of the session was conducted by Mr. Harry on self-esteem. He showed us an inspiring dance performance of a young man who had lost his leg and a woman who had lost her arm in an accident. The clipping taught us that everything is possible, if we believe in ourselves. This message reached each one of us loud and clear. We were given a few tips on how we can build or destroy our self-esteem.
The second half of the session focused on personality development. Fr. Allwyn gave us ingredients to develop a strong personality. This was followed by a fun quiz called the ‘Animal Trap’ in which the students participated with great enthusiasm.
The last and the most important topic of the seminar was smoking. A clipping showcasing an award ceremony in which tobacco won the evil award despite murder, suicide and drugs being nominated.
We were shown various pictures and videos of people giving their testimony on how smoking had wounded their lives. We youngsters smoke because we think it is cool but one message that the entire presentation clearly stated was ‘smoking is not cool at all’.
We were shocked to know the contents of a cigarette and the adverse effects it had on health. The hymns and songs played during the session were spiritually refreshing and enriching.
Fr. Allwyn concluded the session by quoting :
“To make life satisfactory,
Dimag mein ice factory,
Dil mein love factory,
Zuban mein sugar factory”
