TOYOTA DECLARES ST. JOSEPH’S INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE
“THE BEST INSTITUTE IN INDIA”
Mr. Amaar Prabhu
KURLA-MUMBAI, JANUARY 29, 2013 : T-TEP or Toyota Technical Education is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity of TKM. The program focuses on supporting the ITI institutes in various ways. The program is implemented for two categories of the Service industry namely T-TEP General Service (T-TEP GT) and T-TEP Body & Paint Service (T-TEP BP) in conjunction with ITIs in India.
This program was started in Japan in 1990 by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and was launched in India in 2006 as a joint initiative among TMC – Japan, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), Toyota Dealers, Supplier Partners and reputed ITIs across India.
St. Joseph’s Industrial Training Institute is proud to be associated with Toyota Kirloskar Motors since 2006 as a T-TEP Institute.
Under this program, Students undergo training on the latest automobile service concepts in both General and Body & Paint repair methods. The concept of this curriculum is to upgrade the existing ITI (Motor Mechanic Vehicle) course according to the requirements of the Industry by introducing latest Automobile Techniques, Service operation concepts and On the Job Training at a Dealer location. MMV trainees of SJITI spend the first year of their course mastering the syllabus set by the ITI board and in the second year they attend the On-Job-Training at Madhubhan Toyota Service Center, a Toyota dealer that is nearest to the Institute. There they are introduced to the T-TEP curriculum of theory and practicals. This program culminates in a Toyota Career Day, where various Toyota Dealers hold Interviews and all the trainees are placed in a Toyota Workshop.
The Fifth National T-TEP (Toyota Technical Education Program) Seminar was held on January18, at the Regional Manpower Excellence Center, Pune. This Seminar was attended by twenty-one Institutions from all over India.
This Seminar is held every year, to promote interaction between the various stake holders, T-TEP Institutes, Dealers and TKM Management. It was an excellent platform for the discussion of the challenges faced and suggestions made for the effective implementation of the T-TEP program. Each Institute presented the best practices followed by them, updates, new developments and expansions if any.
An important segment of the Seminar was the Skill Competition held for the Instructors of the various ITI Institutions – a truly learning experience for all who participated!
The climax of the Seminar is the selection of the best T-TEP Institution in India. This award is judged on the following criteria:
§ Co-operation between the Institute and Toyota Kirloskar Motors
§ Punctuality
§ Infrastructure and facilities developed by the Institute (special classrooms and working areas)
§ A presentation made on the best practices followed in the Institute and Kaizen and
§ Results of the Career Day.(placements of trainees at TOYOTA dealers)
St. Joseph’s Industrial Training Institute is the proud recipient of this award for the year 2012 – 2013; they also received many accolades for their all- round performance and development. This has boosted the morale of students who feel they need to ensure the reputation of the institution is always held in high esteem and it has motivated the instructors tremendously. It augurs well for the motor mechanic department of SJITI.
