The tournament was played on the new laid basketball rubber court that was sponsored by Don Bosco Oratory and Indian English Academy School. This was a special order from Sports Partner International – Portugal, this is the same court that is now used at various international events in Europe.
The DBO committee would like to thank the IEAS school management for their constant support and approvals to conduct this tournament at their premises, the officials PBA (Philippines Basketball Association) led by Jessie and his team. The sponsors for the event Mr. Ajay Kumar (Boodai Aviation), Mr. James D'sa (National Aviation Services), Mr. Kenneth Remedios (DBPPA), Mr. Shabbir Fakhruddin (Golden Medals).
A note of thanks to all the schools for their participations in the Championship, with a note of special thanks to the coaches for standing by us with the constant change in fixture and dates.
I was extremely happy to watch the performance of the children in this event. One could see that some have already displayed leadership skills. While for some it was hard team work and for a few it was just one man show performance. Sports is part of education, which helps the young to develop themselves both mentally and physically. They learn how to be a team player and the experiences gained from such events helps them to live in the world tomorrow.
For me all were winners and the results of the coaches hard work was apparently displayed by the players. As mentioned next year it is going to be different with more excitements. I am sure the parents who all witnessed their children felt proud that their child represented their school, and whether win or lose we all walked with our head held high.
A note of thanks to the Don Bosco Oratory members for their support: Ivan D'souza, Michael Dias, Penny Rebello, Philip Duarte, Stephen Fernandes, Ronny Fernandes, Loyed Mascarenhas, Alex Sequeira, Hamza, Galvin D'sliva, Christopher Regan, Mr. Anand D'souza (for the Projector) and our delegate Rev. Fr. Francisco Pereira – sdb, for all the assistance and always there for support when needed.
The Organizing committee has vowed to make this sport more interesting, with a proper timetable, more gifts, basketball clinic before the tournament for coaches and captains, surprise gifts for the audience.
