COMMUNITY DAY AT PIMPALGAON GHAT
BIS Correspondent
AHMEDNAGAR-MAHARASHTRA, FEBRUAR 18, 2012: Thursday, February 14, 2013 Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra organized a community day in Pimpalgaon Ghat and Kel, villages in District Beed. The purpose of this event was to bring these two villages together to celebrate and strengthen their fellowship.
The chief Guest for this event was Fr. Edwin D'souza SDB. The Guests of Honour were Fr. Glenn Lowe, Fr. Manuel Murzello, Fr. Nelson Falcao and the Sarpanches of both the villages.
The community day celebrations began with sports for the school children in which most of the students participated. These games created a lot of enthusiasm and brought out many good qualities of a sportsperson.
The evening was coloured by a cultural programme in which students performed Marathi cultural dances. One could see lots of efforts being put in by the teachers and the students to prepare skits on environment and fighting for one's own rights.
The winners of the games were awarded during the felicitation programme. Seeing the need of the students BGVK took up the initiative to distribute the school bags for all the students. Fr. Manuel the mission animator of Marathwada region addressed the gathering on the charism of Don Bosco.
The Chief Guest Fr. Edwin through his speech motivated the children to use their talents for the improvement of their village and encouraged the parents to educate their children, a message that was well applauded for.
This was indeed a red letter day for both the villages since it was the first time such an event was held in their locality. The community day was an instrument in bringing two villages together under one roof. This is the new endeavour that BGVK is launching through such activities to build brotherhood and communion among the villages. The students from the Sacred Heart Convent School also contributed to the sports day.
