LENTEN PILGRIMAGE WITH A DIFFERENCE

By BIS Correspondent

WADALA-MUMBAI, MARCH 16, 2013:  The Parishioners of Wadala embarked on their annual Lenten pilgrimage to three destinations this year.

Two busloads of the young and the old set out for Don Bosco Lonavla in the early hours of March 10, 2013.  On route they completed three rosaries and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

When we arrived at Lonavla we were well received and made to feel at home. After a quick wash up, we celebrated Mass and this was followed by a modest breakfast.

The group then met again for a short recollection conducted by Fr. Vivian D'Souza. Just before Noon we left for Chinchwad. We were disappointed that we could not visit Mother Teresa's Home and meet the sisters and inmates.

However Fr. Corlis welcomed us warmly. After completing the first set of Stations of the Cross we sat down to have a sumptuous lunch. After lunch Fr. Corlis was kind enough to conduct a tour round the Institute.

The parishioners were surprised to see the layout and equipment available here. They expressed their wish that our youngsters should be sent here to be well trained and be gainfully employed.

Our next and last stop was at Sacred Heart Church, Yervada. This was the crowning part of the pilgrimage, for we had the Way of the cross conducted in this beautiful Church, which lasted for an hour and a half. After enjoying tea and snacks graciously provided by the Salesians, we made our homeward journey, having fulfilled yet another Lenten practice and with a lot of good thoughts and resolutions to cherish.
