PARISH YOUTH ORGANISE A LENTEN PROGRAM

By: Fr. Vivian D'Souza

WADALA-MUMBAI, APRIL 02, 2013:  The Parish youth under the aegis of Lloyd Nunes and Fr. Cleophas Braganza from the Youth Services Department, organized a night vigil service in the parish.

The Vigil service was unique in the sense, the participants went through an Exodus experience. We started off in the parish hall, where Fr. Cleophas and the animating team got us to reflect on the different modes of 'slavery' we encounter and also take on ourselves. This was done through a clipping about the people of Israel in Egypt, followed by a reflection and a look into our lives which we could record in our hand-outs provided for each participant together with writing materials. This procedure was followed at the different stages.

The second stage was the reflection on the Call of Moses and our own calling.

The third stage was the crossing of the Red Sea and this was followed by the infidelity and difficulties encountered by the people in the desert.

The most memorable moments to be cherished was the entry into the Promised Land, as the people entered the Church for the last part of the adoration service. This constituted a thanksgiving and commitment session. It was a prayerful and unique experience for both the young and the old.
