A NEW VENTURE-A NEW BEGINNING

By: Ms. Lynette Sequeira

BORIVLI-MUMBAI, JUNE 17, 2013:  Way back in 1971, the Salesian Community planted a tiny sapling in Borivli, Mumbai. Over the years, with the wonderful 'Nurturing Presence' of the dedicated Salesian Fathers, that tiny sapling has grown and developed into a wonderful tree that has been consistently bearing abundant fruit. Having secured cent per cent results for the ninth year in succession at the S.S.C. Board Exams, the fruit of the hard-work and commitment of the Management, Staff and the Students has filled us all with immense joy.

The wonderful fruit-bearing tree is now branching out. That little fledgling institution is now going one step further and is all set to spread its wings and soar high, as we move towards imparting Higher Secondary Education on our campus at Don Bosco, Borivli. On Saturday June 15, 2013, we were privileged to have the Provincial of the Salesian community Fr. Michael Fernandes and the Vice-Provincial, Fr. Ajoy Fernandes with us to bless and inaugurate the Don Bosco Junior College, Borivli. It was wonderful to have all the people who have been a part of the planning process, right from the time this dream was conceptualized, present on this momentous occasion.

It was a moment of immense joy for our Rector, Fr. William Falcao and our Principal, Fr. George Carlos, who will henceforth be referred to as the pioneers of the Don Bosco Junior College. They have overseen the setting up of this new wing of the Institution over the past year or so; and have watched their dream come alive right before their eyes, through the dedication of the entire team that has worked with them. Together with the constant prayers and support of the other members of the community, our Parish Priest, Fr. Aloysius Furtado and our Administrators, past and present, Fr. Allwyn Misquitta and Fr. Baptist Monteiro, this has been a very tiring but fulfilling journey for our Fathers.

This exciting new journey has just begun and as we look forward to all the possibilities that the Junior College will now open up for every student who will now pass through the portals of this institution, we pray that God may bless all our endeavours and be with us always, just as he has been with us thus far.
