BORIVALI-MUMBAI, JULY 16, 2013: PROJECT PARIVATAN was introduced at Bosco Boys Home in order to provide skill training and occupational
theory for children with learning difficulty, borderline intelligence, mild mental retardation, mild physically challenged and youth in difficult situation.
One of the activities of PARIVARAN is converting garbage into organic manure with the help of OWC (Organic Waste Converter). This machine – equipment was provided by Fr. Savio Silvera from the Development Office. It is a simple and safe technology ideally suitable for people with low intelligence. The Salesian Co-operators of the Borivali unit agreed to collaborate with Bosco Boys Home to handle this unique project. On the 12th of July 2013 eleven Co-operators under the leadership of Claudina Pinto underwent extensive training on how to segregate garbage and how to convert organic waste into organic manure. The training program involved "hands on experience" on how to use the OWC machine, production, quality, cost and maintenance. All the participants though retired and senior citizens showed keen interest and enthusiasm in this projects. The next phase will involve packaging and distribution.
LONG LIVE SALESIAN CO-OPERATORS.
