MATUNGA-MUMBAI, AUGUST 28, 2013: Don Bosco High School, Matunga celebrated Bosco Kala Utsav on Saturday, 24th August 2013 which was also the birthday of the Rector, Fr. Wilfred D'Souza. The entire day was devoted to students displaying their myriad talents by competing in a number of events to win points for their respective Houses.
The day began with the art and craft competition. The younger boys were busy decorating bags, while the older boys were making picture frames, using the 'paper quilling' technique. The senior classes, in the light of the recent spate of violent crime, debated the topic "Juvenile age should be brought down to 16 years". It was a hotly contested challenge, the winning team being ahead by only a point. This interesting beginning was followed by a host of events lined up throughout the day - Choral Recitation, Elocution, Mono Acting, Group Singing, Vocals, Folk Dance, Bollywood Dance, Ad Jingles and the Lezim competitions. The most-anticipated competition - The Bosco Prince, brought the events to a close. The judges appreciated the talent and poise they witnessed among the Std. IX boys.
Bosco Kala Utsav 2013-2014 was a booming success as the boys enthusiastically cheered for their teams. Teachers could be seen scouting out impressive talent to enrich further school events like the House Assemblies, the One-Act Plays and also the Annual Day.
