NERUL-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 9, 2013: The Archdiocesan Value Education Centre (AVEC) organized a seminar for the Value Education Co - ordinators of he ABE schools in Mumbai on 26th September, 2013 at Don Bosco, Matunga. The seminar was attended by teachers from different schools from Mumbai and Navi - Mumbai. Mrs. Afifa Tandel and Mrs. Milan Pinto represented Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul at te seminar.
The seminar aimed at making the teachers aware that out of 3 students in a class 1 has a learning difficulty or is a slow learner. Teachers were encouraged to be patient and empathize with their students. They were also motivated to keep themselves abreast with the growth in technology and the latest gadgets to be on the same wave length as their students.
Fr. Glenford Lowe – Director of AVEC presented the awards and certificates to schools who took part in various competitions held in the year 2012-2013.
Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul won the following prizes:
1. A trophy and a certificate were awarded for participating and winning in most of the competitions held in the year 2012-2013.
2. A trophy and certificates for 'Carol Writing Competition' held in December, 2012.
The winners were as follows,
- Juniors Group - Pritika Pais , Leahra Travasso and Joyce Thobias.
- Inters Group - Nidhi Shah, K.S. Sandesh and Malcom Dias
- Seniors Group - Smriti Sarma, Jemima Travasso and Kimberly Braganza
3. They won two prizes for 'Painting Competition' held in August, 2013. The topic of the competition was 'Balanced Diet'.
The 1st prize was secured by Liza Gard from Class IX in the Group C and the 2nd prize was secured by Anushree Rao from class V in Group B.
The seminar was an eye - opener for all teachers. They truly understood, the problems a student with learning difficulties, faces in class. The teachers went back with an important message:
'Embrace Values and Enrich Lives'
