BIS # 3694 IN MEMORY OF FR. BOSCO PEREIRA

by Fr. Anthony Santarita

BORIVALI-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 9, 2013: Fr. Bosco Pereira spent almost 18 years of his life at Bosco Boys Home and was a pioneer of many new ventures, such as the Motor Mechanics and the Electrical workshops with the help of Fr. Anaclete D'Mello the  then Principal of Don Bosco School, Borivali.

His Sunday homilies were always dotted with relevant and thought provoking anecdotes and witty one liner's, which kept the Parishioners listening attentively as he interpreted the word of God in his unique style.

Bosco Boys Home in collaboration with the family cell and the Youth group of the Parish organized a Singing Competition called "Voice Mania" in memory of Late Fr. Bosco Pereira who always encouraged the youth to develop their talent.

The Primary aim of this Singing Competition was to bring the Parish families together through the medium of Singing. The Family Cell did a fabulous job of contacting the families and encouraging them to participate.

There were 6 categories:

(a) Couple  (b) Senior Citizen  (c) Mahila Mandal  (d) Men's group  (e) Khandaan Special  (f) Zonal war.

The Participation was overwhelming and the parishioners are looking forward for such events in the future.

In conclusion Fr. Aloo recalled a few memorable instances with Fr. Bosco Pereira who also happened to be his pupil at Matunga and had learnt to play the French horn in the band. He said "Probably Fr. Bosco must be smiling from heaven to see this singing competition being held in his memory."
