BORIVALI-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 9, 2013: Sports has always been an integral part of all the Salesian institutions. Don Bosco himself frequently joined the young boys in the oratory in games and often tried to teach them important lessons of life through sports. Apart from physical sports, games like chess which train the mind to think and to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances.
On 3rd October, 2013, Don Bosco High School – Borivali celebrated the Blue House Day. The patron saint for the Blue House is Don Bosco and the modern icon The King of Chess, Vishwanathan Anand. The Blue House teachers, Ms Cheryl D'souza and Ms. Linet Rodrigues worked hard to train the boys.
The qualities of Don Bosco such as humanity and humility were brought out through a skit. The life of Don Bosco was presented through a song. A few students expressed their views on why they had chosen Don Bosco as their school. Later a student from Don Bosco High School – Borivali, travelling from Kolkata to Mumbai met the legendary Vishwanathan Anand in a short interview/skit. Through a Power Point presentation children were made aware about, how chess is beneficial for children.
Finally the Principal Fr. George Carlos shared a few inspirational words with those gathered about why sports is such an essential part of every Salesian institution.
