NASHIK-MAHARASHTRA, NOVEMBER 7, 2013: On the 3rd of November, 2013, the youth of St. Patrick, Devlali under the guidance of Br. Onimon Kanai of Silchar province, conducted a football and throwball tournament for boys and girls respectively of the Diocese of Nashik. The participating teams belonged to St. Anne, Holy Cross, Don Bosco and St. Patrick Parishes. The tournament began with a prayer service at 9:00 am with all the teams assembled on the ground. Fr. Savio D'souza the rector of Divyadaan, inaugurated the tournament. Fr. Kishore, the Youth Director of the Nashik Diocese and Fr. Sandeep Kolge, the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Patrick parish were also present.
There was a lively atmosphere in the campus with the presence of the youth. The brothers got an opportunity to interact with the youth of the diocese. Three professional referees were present. The matches went on smoothly, with the youth showcasing their skills and talents.
Parishioners from the various parishes were present to cheer the teams. The final match of the football tournament was held between Don Bosco and St. Patrick Parishes. It was an exciting match between two tough teams. St. Patricks won the match, with a score of 2-0. In the Throwball tournament, the finalists were the girls from St. Patrick and Don Bosco Parishes. Here Don Bosco girls bagged the trophy.
The tournament concluded with a thanksgiving and prize distribution ceremony. Cash prizes were given to the winners and the runners up. Special words of gratitude we extended towards the staff and the brothers of Divyadaan for their co-operation. The youth of St. Patrick indeed did a marvelous job with the organization and execution of the tournament.
