MATUNGA-MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 11, 2013:  The Province of Mumbai was privileged to welcome the Vicar General of the Salesian Congregation, who is also in charge of the Salesian Family, Fr. Adriano Bregolin. There was a large gathering of Salesians, Salesian Sisters, Co-operators, Past-Pupils and members of the ADMA group of the Salesian family on 10th November, 2013. The Provincial, Fr. Godfrey D'souza welcomed Fr. Adriano and introduced him to the gathering.

In his talk, Fr. Adriano shared with all present the good news that there were more than 30 branches in the Salesian Family and there was a long list of applicants that were awaiting approval from Rome. He was happy to note that several of these approved branches were of Indian origin. He also observed that there are few Salesian missionaries from Italy in India today and that it was our turn to send missionaries to Europe.

Speaking on the vocation of the Salesian Family he stressed that the Salesian Family needs to be Spiritual and Apostolic. Spiritual as Don Bosco wants us to be i.e. inspired by the Holy Spirit, based on the teachings of the Gospel and following the example of Mary, who was called to be the Mother of God, when she was still young. As Apostles, we are called to carry out our mission within the Church and society, addressing the needs of the time.

He pointed out that the youth phenomenon today has several expressions that need to be studied. He also spoke about the need to spread values of the Gospel. He concluded saying that, the efforts to build a Vocation Culture should foster the promotion of the kingdom of God.

The Salesian Family presented Fr. Adriano with a shawl and floral tributes.
