MATUNGA- MUMBAI, NOVEMBER 15, 2013: The members of the Matunga Unit of ADMA [Association of Mary Help of Christians] of the INB Province organized their annual pilgrimage this year to the Shrine of Our Lady of Health, Velankanni, from 31st October to 6th November. They extended the invitation to family members and other devotees and the group grew to a sizable number of 63 persons.

It was a prayerful experience, spending three days in this holy place crowded with devotees from all over. The sense of piety was strongly evident and contagious for anyone who visits the Shrine. The group participated in the daily English Mass (almost every other prayer moment was conducted in Tamil), the First Friday Eucharistic Procession and the First Saturday "Mary's chariot" procession along the seashore. The group also spent a lot of time in the beautiful Shrine Church and the Adoration Chapel as well as visited "Our Lady's Tank" and the new Morning Star Church under construction, that will accommodate 10,000 people when fully completed.

During the return journey the group halted at Chennai and enjoyed the hospitality of the Salesians there. They were also privileged to celebrate Mass at the crypt that houses the tomb of St. Thomas Apostle, over which the San Thome Basilica is built. The pilgrimage has encouraged the participants to recognize a stronger sense of the presence of Mary in their lives and to become ardent promoters of her devotion to others.
