BIS # 3785 FR. JUAN VECCHI - BLUE HOUSE PATRON

by BIS correspondent

Matunga-mumbai, December 2, 2013: On 26th November 2013, the Blue House of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, shared with great love and admiration the teachings of their mentor, Fr. Juan Vecchi, the 8th successor of Don Bosco.

The beautiful backdrop with the words 'In the Service of the Young' captured the life and spirit of Fr. Vecchi. The hall was decorated with blue balloons and with charts depicting the life and works of Fr. Vecchi. The boys ably guided by a team of teachers from the Blue House staged an attractive presentation with a prayer dance, songs and a skit depicting Salesian values. A touching moment was the ordination scene of Fr. Juan Vecchi which was enacted beautifully.

The Blue House reminded the gathering that he was an innovator in youth pastoral approaches. His strong sense of fatherliness, his fidelity to the founder's charism, his competent leadership and teamwork, and his openness to the signs of the times showed him truly as a man of faith.

Fr. Wilfred D'Souza, the Rector, congratulated the Blue House for their fine presentation. He impressed on the assembly how Fr. Vecchi lived out his vocation and how even in the final years of his sickness - that led to his premature death – he served the congregation with dynamism to the very end. Fr. Bosco D'Mello, the Principal, congratulated the teachers and students for their hard work even though the time at their disposal to put up the assembly, was crowded with other activities.

This assembly marked the end of the presentation of the Rectors Major that the school had adopted in connection with the preparation for the bi-centenary of Don Bosco's birth.
