PUNE – MAHARASHTRA, FEBRUARY 03, 2014: The Provincial and vice-provincial visited DBYC on 30th and 31st January, 2014. They also visited JDV (Jnana- Deepa Vidyapeeth) Pune, on the 30th Jan.
The community of Don Bosco Youth Centre, Koregaon, Pune, was privileged to have Fr. Godfrey D’ Souza, sdb, the new provincial of the Salesian province of Mumbai as the main celebrant for the Eucharist on 31st January, 2014 – the feast of Don Bosco. The concelebrants for the Eucharist were Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, the vice provincial, the staff of DBYC and Sacred Heart parish, Yerwada and the priests from the neighbouring parishes. Fr. Provincial gave an inspiring and thought provoking homily, in which he highlighted Don Bosco’s predilection for the poor and abandoned youngsters.
The choir for the holy Eucharist comprised of the youth, Salesian sisters, lay collaborators and the brothers of DBYC. He said that the youth of Don Bosco’s time were on the streets and were victims of the industrial revolution and Don Bosco reached out to them and brought joy and happiness in their lives. Similarly we too should respond to the situation in the lives of people around and bring joy in their lives.
The occasion was made more solemn with 7 new Salesian co-operators making their solemn promise during the Eucharist in the presence of the provincial and the faithful. Fr. Edison Fernandes, the vice rector of DBYC, thanked all those responsible for making the novenas and feast day a wonderful spiritual experience.
