BORIVLI-MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 4, 2014: St. John Bosco Church, Borivali was privileged to have the presence of His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias, who celebrated the Eucharistic in honour of their Patron St. John Bosco whose feast was celebrated on Sunday, 2nd February 2014. The con – celebrants were Rev. Fr. Aloysius Furtado, Parish Priest; Rev. William Falcao, Rector; Rev. Fr. George Carlos, Principal, Rev. Fr. K.T. Emmanuel, Secretary to the Archbishop, Borivli, Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Fernandes, Administrator, Bosco Boys Home and Rev. Fr. Elias Dias.
His Eminence gave the community a heart –warming and inspiring homily on how Don Bosco led a holy life and set an example for youngsters. He further enlightened the gathering on how parishes should unite so as to bring about God’s kingdom here on earth.
His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias released a book penned by Rev Fr. Elias Dias "A Legacy of Love for the Young" History, Pedagogy and Spirituality of Don Bosco in a nutshell as we usher in the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco. The book is dedicated to the Salesians of Mumbai Province. Rev. Fr. Dias, thanked the Parish Team and Salesian Co-operators of St. John Bosco, Borivali for all the support given to him.
After the Holy Eucharist, the parish lay associations were privileged to interact personally with his Eminence and seek his blessings.
The parish community had a parish get-together in the evening fondly known by the parishioners as Bosco Nite in honour of the patron Saint Don Bosco. It was a fun-filled evening in which the young and old participated in the events and the games. All present had a wonderful time.
