KUWAIT, FEBRUARY 14, 2014: Taking a page from Don Bosco’s life to continuously feed the souls of all with spiritual food, the Salesian Cooperators of Kuwait organised a half-day recollection with Fr Valerian Pereira on Thursday, 6 February 2014.
Fr. Valerian thoughtfully designed the recollection focussing on three elements – revisiting the roles of a Salesian Cooperator as envisioned by Don Bosco, understanding the power of positive spiritual influences in our lives as did Don Bosco and finally applying the Salesian way in education and parenting/teaching.
“The recollection was an enriching experience as it brought to light the first-hand knowledge of our patron saint Don Bosco's principles and ideals and their perspectives” commented Susan D’costa a senior Salesian Cooperator and the secretary of the Kuwait unit.
Through powerful audio-visual presentations and meaningful discussions Fr. Valerian brought to life Don Bosco’s teachings for the 35 enthusiastic Salesian Cooperators. He discussed the strong spiritual influences in Don Bosco’s life and the role they played in shaping his life and his vision. In the concluding session, he elucidated the Salesian Educative Pedagogy and Parenting/Teaching today, discussing potential challenges and the practical guidelines that the Cooperators can emulate in their mission.
Evelyn Dsouza another Salesian was deeply touched by Fr. Valerian’s session, “His session gave me a clearer deeper vision of the goals / life/ vocation / struggles / endurance / faith & love of Don Bosco...helped me now understand the mind of Don Bosco when he thought of Salesian Cooperators”.
