MATUNGA-MUMBAI, JUNE 19, 2014: The 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Day of Don Bosco Balprafulta was held on June 10, 2014 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga. Present for the programme were Fr Crispino D'souza – Rector of Dominic Savio Andheri, Fr Gregory Almeida, the new director of Don Bosco Balprafulta, our ex- director, Fr. Barnabe D'souza, the staff and directors of various NGO's.
The theme of the Annual Day was 'Strengthening vulnerable families: An approach for child's holistic development. The programme began with a welcome speech by Ms Nikita Tanpure followed by a presentation on the works of Don Bosco Balprafulta for the year 2013-14 by Ms Aarti Paranjpee, the Programme Manager. The Panel discussion followed thereafter. Six eminent speakers; Mrs. Asha Rane, Mr. Pramod Nigudkar, Mrs. Anjali Gokarn, Sr. Merlin, Mrs. Manasi Joshi and Miss Marina D'costa from different organizations having worked with children and families were invited to speak through their expertise on various aspects of the theme.
The session was moderated by Sr. Jacinta Pinto, the executive director of Don Bosco Balprafulta. It was an interactive session where the audience not only raised questions but also gave valuable suggestions. This gave an impetus to push ahead for an urgent need to work in close collaboration with likeminded NGO's to start a process of working with vulnerable families. The panel discussion was followed by a question and answer session where the doubts of the audience were clarified. Some organization also took the opportunity to share the positive experiences of their NGO's in working with vulnerable families. The Annual Day ended with a vote of Thanks by Ms. Anjali Parmar.
