LONAVLA-PUNE, JULY 9, 2014: The student leaders of Don Bosco School and Junior College were installed in the presence of the management, teachers and students on July 7, 2014 at 8.30 am in the Hall. The theme of the installation ceremony was 'Lead by Example'.
The installation ceremony began with a prayer service beseeching God's blessings on the leaders. Frs. Solomon Rapol, the Rector, George Carlos, the Principal and Mrs. Chetna, the coordinating teacher lit the lamp. The readings from the scriptures on the theme of leadership followed. The compere then enumerated the qualities of a good leader. Being the feast of St. Dominic Savio, the leadership skills of the saint was highlighted.
The School and College Captains and Vice-Captains were installed by the Principal. The leaders of the four houses – Bosco, Rua, Magone, Savio – were installed by the Rector. The Art, Cultural, Sports, Scouts, Laura Vicuna Club and Prefects were installed by the teacher's in-charge of the respective sectors. The class monitors and vice-monitors were installed by the class teachers. Each of the leaders took the oath of being of service to God and to the institution.
Fr. Solomon Rapol addressed the gathering and the leaders in particular. He put before them the leadership of St. Dominic Savio, especially the quality of obedience. He also gave them the maxim 'If you do evil, the evil remains with you; if you do good, it will come back to you in the form of blessings and graces'. He stressed on the importance of cultivating qualities of the heart – generosity, availability, love etc. Fr. George Carlos inaugurated the House System with the unveiling of the Points Board. He proposed the vote of thanks to all those who helped in making the installation ceremony memorable. The ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
