BIS # 4146 CRICKET TOURNAMENT ORGANIZED AT DB, SAVEDI

SAVEDI-AHMEDNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 24, 2014: On the occasion of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth, the Junior College of Don Bosco, Savedi, Ahmednagar organized a two day inter college Cricket tournament on September 17-18, 2014.  There were eight colleges of Ahmednagar that took part in this tournament.  The colleges were Residential Junior College, Sarada College, Rupibai Bora Junior College, Sun Pharma Junior College, Auxilium Junior College, Karmavir Bhahurao Patil Vidhalaya, Ahmednagar College, and Don Bosco Junior College Savedi. 


Honourable Rajabhaji Kothari, the industrialist was the Chief Guest, who sponsored the first prize of Rs. 11,111/- and second prize of Rs. 7,777/-. He also lighted the lamp and garlanded the statue of Don Bosco. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized on the importance of sports and education that helped the students to gain discipline.  Honourable Sampathji Baraskar, the member of the Municipal cooperation was the Guest of Honour, who sponsored the third prize of Rs. 5,555/-


Sir Nitin Gaikwad and Sir Nitin Pandit were the main organizers of this tournament and were helped by the other teachers of the college and Vidhalaya.  All eight teams placed their best foot forward.  At the end of the two days of cricket tournament, the first place was won by Ahmednagar College, the second place was won by Sun Pharma College and the third prize was won by their own team, Don Bosco Junior College, Savedi.  


Fr. Manuel, the Rector, Fr. Francis, the Principal and Fr. Anthony, the Principal of English medium school were present and distributed the prizes, medals and certificates to the winning teams. Thereafter, Sir Nitin Gaikwad gave a vote of thanks acknowledging the sponsorers and well wishers for their support, all the teams, teachers and students who put in a lot of effort and hard work to make this Bicentenary project a success.
