AHMEDNAGAR–MAHARASHTRA, NOVEMBER 13, 2014: The parish of St. Anne's, Ahmednagar organized an altar servers rally for the eight parishes of the Ahmednagar Deanery on Sunday, November 9, 2014. The event was attended by 132 altar servers. The programme began at 9.00 am and ended by 6.00pm. Commemorating the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, the parish of St. Anne's invited altar servers from the deanery to reflect on the theme "Closer to Jesus through the Sacraments". There were also sessions during the day that give a picture of the life of Don Bosco and his love for the sacraments and the Church at large.
The focus of the event was learning through fun and enjoyment and the entire programme was arranged accordingly. There were group games, action songs, jam session, fete games and plenty of other entertainment. Some input sessions were also conducted. The highlight of the rally was the Holy Eucharist which was presided over by Fr. Thomas D'costa. In his homily, he emphasized on the active role of altar servers in the Church and their call to be leaders of tomorrow.
Fr. Rolvin, the main animator and organizer of the event, was actively assisted and supported by Fr. George D'abreo. The altar servers went back thrilled after the event; but moreover, they went back inspired having learnt more about the Sacraments and about Don Bosco and his life.
