WALUJ-AURANGABAD, NOVEMBER 19, 2014: "Let's Get Educated and Build our Lives" was the theme of the first Baldivas or Children's Day held at Dahegaon Bangla by BGVK – Waluj, Aurangabad on November 16, 2014. Over 200 students (Std I - Std IV) who participated in the Village Education Project (VEP) effective in ten villages in Gangapur taluka, Aurangabad assembled in the community hall at Dahegaon Bangla.
Mr. Avinash Mulekar, Manager of Bank of Maharashtra graced the event along with his wife and impressed upon the children and the tuition teachers the importance of education. His personal testimony about his humble origins and the devotion of his parents to the idea of getting the children educated in the face of hardships made his simple and short speech efficacious.
Seven village heads (sarpanch) graced the dais and reassured the village children and the management of BGVK of their support to the salesians and their interventions in their villages. Group games, fete games, fellowship meal and a beautiful cultural programme put together by the ten VEP tuition teachers made the day truly a memorable one for the children.
