by Neelam Rodrigues

BORIVLI-MUMBAI, DECEMBER 6, 2014:  In the fast paced society that we are living today, with people groping in the darkness and wanting to find a path of happiness in a jiffy, public awareness has become an essential and inevitable asset that can do wonders.

Realising the need of the hour, our Principal Rev. Fr. Donald Fernandez, along with the support and co- ordination of the MHB Colony police station had organised an awareness programme for the parents and the students from Std IX- XII. Inspector Bhalchandra Avhad  and his team did a wonderful job in this one hour programme. The Inspector emphasized on the need for parents and students to be alert in this hour of ever growing crimes. He spoke on how to avoid thefts, and how to be confident when unaccompanied throwing light on the issue of drug abuse, and what students need to do to avoid being a victim of the same.

The topic of cyber crime was also highlighted, as inspector spoke on the positive as well as the negative uses of various social networking sites. In the end stressing on the fact that the police are not as tough and as tainted as they are made out to be, but in reality are the true friends of the citizens whom we can whole heartedly rely upon.

Also present for the event was Mr. Tanuj Mahashabde aka Iyyer of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chasma' fame. He too addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of public awareness, and how satisfied he was in contributing to the cause. It was really heartening to see the police keenly addressing the various queries raised by the students, teachers and parents alike.
We wish to thank the authorities for being so considerate. It is indeed something which was so very useful to us and if followed sincerely would certainly lead to a safer and happier place to live in.
