SAVEDI-AHMEDNAGAR, DECEMBER 26, 2014: The two deacons of the Mumbai province, Dn. Johnson Kshirsagar and Dn. Kiran Salve were ordained priests on December 20, 2014 at St. John Bosco Church, Savedi-Ahmednagar by Rev. Bishop Lourdes Daniel, the Bishop of Nashik Diocese.
The ceremony that began at 10:00 am witnessed a gathering of about 45 priests, 30 sisters and around 2,500 attendants from villages and others from Mumbai. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized on the vocation of a priest, who draws the faithful to God and who represents Christ. The priest is the one who forgives people on behalf of Christ. After the celebration of the Eucharist, a felicitation ceremony was conducted where the Bishop, the newly ordained priests, the Vice Provincial Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, the Economer, Fr. Elson Barretto and Fr. Manuel, the parish priest were felicitated. Food was then served to all present.
Fr. Manuel along with his community and parish council members worked hard to make this day a grand success. The next day, the newly ordained priests Fr. Johnson and Fr. Kiran celebrated their first mass at 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. respectively.
