BIS # 4333 NEW PRIESTS’ DAY AT DIVYADAAN

by Jerry Arumainathan

NASHIK-MAHARASHTRA, JANUARY 27, 2015: Divyadaan celebrated New Priests' Day on  January 20, 2015. Confreres, Sisters, and novices from Salesian Training Institute, Don Bosco Bhavan, Sacred Heart Training Centre and Maria Vihar Community joined in the event. It was a wonderful time for all to praise and thank God for the call and mission given to Fr. Kiran Salve and Fr. Johnson Kshirsagar.

In the afternoon, the Divyadaan brothers had an hour-long interaction with the new priests. It was an enriching experience for the young Salesians. Fr. Kiran explained his motto, "The Almighty has done great things for me" (Luke 1: 49). "To do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8)" is the ordination motto of Fr. Johnson, which he elaborated upon during the interaction.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration began at 7.00 pm. Fr. Kiran Salve presided over the Eucharist, while the Salesians from the campus concelebrated. Fr. Johnson, in his homily, spoke of the faithfulness of God and the need to put our trust in Him. Quoting Teilhard De Chardin he said, "Do not worry about the road; the road will open before you, as you go on". The Mass ended with the kissing of the anointed hands of the new priests. This was followed by the felicitation of the new priests in a short family get-together. The programme ended with the sharing of a family meal together.
