SAVEDI-AHMEDNAGAR, FEBRUARY 10, 2015: Our well beloved Pope Francis has announced November 30, 2014 to February 2016 as the years of Consecrated life and therefore the parishioners of St. John Bosco Church, Savedi decided to honour and felicitate the priests, brothers and sisters of the parish for their dedicated and selfless service.
On February 2, 2015 the Salesian co-operators with the help of Sr. Mangal Kolge FMA, organized this day. In the evening at 5:30 p.m. the faithful gathered near the grotto of Our Lady where candles were lighted and blessed since it was the feast of Presentation of the Lord and Fr. Manuel the main celebrant of the Eucharist explained the meaning of this feast and the world day of consecrated life.
Frs. Francis Francis, Anthony Goyal, Cedrick Sankul, Cl. Alex Carvalho and all Salesian sisters were welcomed in the church with a traditional 'aarti.' In his sermon Fr. Manuel explained the logo of the year of consecrated life. He invited the people to pray for all the consecrated all over the world, to pray daily for vocations to religious life, to wake the world and be a light for the world through our good deeds and actions and not only mere preaching.
After the homily, the Salesian fathers, brothers and sisters renewed their vows ones again in the presence of the faithful. The religious were felicitated with a coconut and a shawl each after the mass. In the end, Fr. Manuel thanked all the parishioners and the Salesian Co-operators for animating this special day. Snacks was then served to all present.
