BIS # 4368 JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS AT DB, ALIRAJPUR

by Fr. Osborn Furtado

ALIRAJPUR-MADHYA PRADESH, FEBRUARY 16, 2015: In this bicentennial year, the Don Bosco Community at Dakor celebrated its Silver Jubilee. Twenty-five long and grace-filled years have borne abundant fruit in the mission. The football tournament organized on February 8, was a part of the jubilee celebrations.

To participate in this event, a team from Don Bosco Academy travelled 230kms. Not only did the boys gain experience and a chance to win the hearts of the spectators but much more. Having played their first game with Baroda B and routing them 9-0, they were adjudged finalists on the credit of the massive goal-difference earned. They won the tournament by defeating DB Snehalaya 1-0.

The community at Alirajpur is proud that their boys are champions. At Don Bosco Academy, Alirajpur's, alongside academic brilliance, a lot of values are instilled in the boarders. They are taught conduct, goodwill, respect and obedience. They are forged to be hardworking and multi-faceted. The team that travelled to Dakor did not consist of all the best footballers of the DBA, rather, boys who scaled the benchmarks set by the DBA.

It is not the cup that makes the boys champions for it may soon be forgotten, lost or tarnished, but the values and discipline (restraint and self-control) etched on character. Alirajpur is proud to have produced such young men.
