BIS # 4384 'SAMVAAD 2015' AT KURLA

KURLA-MUMBAI, MARCH 3, 2015: The Literary Council of Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Kurla hosted Samvaad- the voice of the people, an inter-collegiate debate competition on Saturday, 28 February 2015. Students from 12 colleges across Mumbai participated in the debate which was held in the Santino Mondini hall. The venue had the ambience of the Indian Parliament.


The students deliberated on 4 topics of National interest namely; Bill to Implement a Uniform Civil Code, Bill to Legalize Betting in Sports, Land Acquisition Bill and Bill to Legalize Euthanasia. The eminent panel of judges comprised of people from various walks of life. The judges were Dr. Anjali Verma, Ms. Indira Muthukrishnan, Adv. Mr. Mohammed Shine, Mr. Sunil Dharmarajan, Dr. Mini Moni and Ms. Achita Jacob.


The distinguished Guests of Honour were Mr. Ajit Kumar, General Manager Life Insurance Corporation and Mr. Sumeet Naik, News Editor Free Press Journal of India. The proceedings of Samvaad 2015 were expertly conducted by Mr. Pranav Gaidhani in his role as the Speaker. The host team DBIT bagged the trophy for the best team while Mr. Shrikunj from DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering was adjudged the best speaker. Mr. Rajeev Nazareeth (DBIT) and Mr. Rohan (KJ Somaiyya College of Engineering) were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.


The event which was supported and encouraged by the Principal and Management of DBIT was much more than the expectations of the people. Samvaad 2015 was made possible because of the dedicated and committed efforts of more than 60 student volunteers. The Literary Council promises a more enriched Samvaad 2016.
