BIS # 4412 LIKE DON BOSCO, WITH THE YOUNG FOR THE YOUNG

by Br. Evangelo D'Souza, sdb

PUNE-MAHARSHATRA, MARCH 24, 2015: The community of DBYC, Pune had their Salesian Youth Ministry programme from March 21-23, 2015 under the direction of Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, Vice-Provincial of the Mumbai Province and Fr. Glenford Lowe.

The aim of the course was to enable the brothers to be effective and creative youth ministers. They also exhorted the brothers to instil in themselves a planning mentality. The brothers were guided in drawing up an Educative Pastoral Project for the forthcoming summer apostolates. The content of the course was taken from the book - Salesian Youth Ministry – Frame of Reference compiled by Fr. Fabio Attard, Councillor for Youth Ministry.

Fr. Glenford Lowe focused on how the theologians could induce qualitative change rather than quantitative changes in their youth ministry. Fr. Ajoy guided the brothers in generating and implementing an educative pastoral project and how they could implement it in the camps, clubs and in the village development work.

Interactive sessions on drawing up plans helped the brothers to think and conduct more efficiently their activities in their youth ministry. Fr. Derrick led the brothers in developing their administrative skills of budgeting and maintaining accounts with transparency. 'Kudos to Fr. Ajoy and Fr. Glenford for guiding the brothers in being evangelizers of the young after the heart of Don Bosco.'
