MUMBAI, JUNE 30, 2015: Father Bernard Fernandes, the new Principal of Don Bosco High School, Matunga met with members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) over three days starting from June 24; to appraise them about the measures undertaken by the school management for a holistic education.
On day one, Father Wilfred D'Souza, the Rector introduced Father Fernandes to the PTA. He then spoke about the theme for the year, 'Like Don Bosco - With The Young, For The Young,' reiterating the importance of parents and teachers alike being there for the boys.
The day was demarcated for meeting PTA members of standard nine and ten. PTA of standard seven and eight met on June 26 and standard five and six met on June 29.
During these meetings, Father Fernandes informed the parents about the administrative effort that had gone into making the school a welcoming, comfortable institution for the students.
He also briefed the parents of the preparatory work the teachers had put in before the start of the academic year, through seminars and leadership training programmes attended by the members of the Student Council.
He then exhorted parents to dissuade their children from attending coaching classes and instead encouraged their wards to take competitive exams. He stressed that students go beyond the scope of the class by joining the various clubs the school offered. He added students could keep themselves up to speed with current affairs by reading periodicals and newspapers.
