GUJARAT, OCT 2, 2015: Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at Don Bosco Snehalaya,Vadodara with a rally on October 2.
The main theme was 'Let's make Vadodara Child Friendly.' Topics such as Swachh Bharat, Right to Education, Preservation of the Environment, Unity among Religions, were touched upon.
The rally began from Snehalaya right up to Vadodara Railway Station.
The participants included, the children of Snehalaya, Father George, Brother Royston, the staff, Masters of Social Work students and volunteers.
The children marched on the street with posters and banners that they had prepared. Through costume and drama, they portrayed prominent freedom fighters and also depicted different religions.
On reaching Vadodara railway station, the senior boys of Snehalaya helped in cleaning its parking lot. This was followed by a skit put up by the boys on the theme of Child Labour and Swachh Bharat.
The Western Railway Passenger Association helped organise the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Neelam Kodnani, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee was also present to support the noble cause.
To commemorate the great leader Mahatma Ghandhi, the children were also made aware of his role and contribution to India's freedom struggle.
