MUMBAI, OCT 17, 2015: Don Bosco High School, Borivli organised a 'Reading Day' on October 15, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Ex-President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
Students attended school without any school bags to mark the occasion as 'No Bag Day', at the behest of the Education Department.
Students from standard five till eight began the day with an assembly, which was then followed by a general programme on the 'Importance of reading'.
The youth were then shown inspiring videos of Dr Kalam. The videos helped to highlight Dr Kalam's views on reading.
Teachers also used video presentations to highlight the various 'techniques of reading'.
Students then spent 30 minutes individually reading certain text. While they read, they were expected to note the qualities of the characters or the protagonist of their story.
A group discussion followed. Finally, they wrote a short report on the day's events, in line with the question that was presented to them on the sheets provided.
The teachers analysed their answers and the ten best reports will be duly recognised.
