YERWADA, JAN 22, 2015: Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada celebrated Vocation Day on January 17. The eight newly ordained priests of the Mumbai Province – Fathers Leon Rodrigues, Crescens Lemos, Jacob Palaparambil, Johnson Pannasingh Bhuriya, Ashwin Mal, Roshan Gonsalves, Richard Burkhao and Dinesh Vasava visited the parish to share their vocation story.
The eight priests celebrated the evening 6 pm Holy Eucharist with the parishioners. In his homily, Father Rodrigues said that Saint John's motive is 'belief.' He wanted his audience to grow, completely trusting in Jesus. The purpose of the miracle at Cana is that we grow in our Faith in Jesus.
Father Rodrigues emphasised that Jesus performed this first sign at his Mother, Mary's request . Our Blessed Mother still intercedes for the Church today. 'Do whatever HE tells you', with this Mary encourages us to grow in our daily Christian discipleship.
Father Rodrigues added, "The Lord will change the ordinary water of our lives into the sparkling wine of God's merciful love. Let's drink from this stream of merciful love in this Year of Mercy." Holy Mass was followed by a short felicitation programme.
On 18 January, the recently ordained priests celebrated the Holy Eucharist for the students of Don Bosco School and Junior College, Yerwada. Father Vasava preached on the first reading of the day. God rejected Saul because he disobeyed the voice of the Lord, stressing on the virtue of obedience in our lives.
Then each priest shared his vocation story, thereby sowing the seeds of a probable vocation among the young students. The communities at the two Don Bosco institutions were grateful to the Lord, for the precious gift of eight ministers to labor in HIS Vineyard.
