BIS #4771 PROVINCIAL CHAPTER DAY ONE

LONAVLA, FEB 8, 2016: Day One of the second session of the Provincial Chapter (PC) 2016 began on February 8, with the Holy Eucharist. Father Savio Silveira, Vice Provincial of the Salesian province of Mumbai emphasised the need for awareness, empathy, involvement, outrage and universality in our endeavour  to reshape our consecration and mission.

 

The summary minutes of session one of PC 2016 held in October at Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga were then read and passed by the chapter members. Father Godfrey D'Souza, Provincial of the province of Mumbai presented the 'state of the province' highlighting the positives, the assessment and the  way forward.


Following this, the confreres studied the report and posed questions which were clarified by the Provincial and his Councillors.  Father Elson Baretto, the Economer, presented the financial report of the province highlighting the positives and the drawbacks. 

 

Commission  One -'Reshaping Our Consecrated and Community Life' then presented the draft document which was debated, clarified and analysed with suggestions and possibilities to be incorporated.  Commission Two-'Formation to Mission,' presented their final draft which was also analysed, evaluated and clarified. Conrad Saldanha presented an indicative survey outcome of the concern areas in this regard.  


The highlight of the day was the debate on the 'Reshaping of Communities' as mandated by the letter of the Vicar General , Father Francesco Cereda and the rethink on the studentate of Theology at Don Bosco Koregoan Park , Pune initiated through an email of the Councillor of Formation, Father Ivo Coelho.

 

In his goodnight, Father Blany Pinto provided the capitulars with an overview of the Kuwait mission requesting prayers for the vibrant Salesian youth parish and school ministry in the Northern Arabian Vicariate.
