KUWAIT, JUNE 2, 2016: St. Therese Church, Salmiya, Kuwait celebrated the feast of the Visitation of Our Lady on May 31, where a parishioner took the promise to be a Salesian Co-operator and 33 Co-operators renewed their vows.
Salesian Co-operators are the third branch of the Salesian Family. The Co-operators take an active part in the church activities, conducting catechism classes and various programmes for the youth and children. They animate the various Salesian feasts during the year.
Aspirant, Christopher Pereira took a promise to be a full-fledged Salesian Co-operator. "I feel different and empowered. It makes me feel like something has tweaked the feeling in my heart towards children," said Pereira. 33 other Co-operators renewed their promise.
The day began with the Co-operators gathering in church for a short reflection on Don Bosco. They spent time in prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Father Franco Pereira, the Catechetical Director of the Vicariate, was the main celebrant.
Father Nelson Falcao- a visiting priest - concelebrated the Holy Mass and he witnessed the promise made by Pereira. In his homily, Father Falcao shared his reflections on the virtues of Mother Mary and how Don Bosco was very close to her. He also stressed on her humility which we are all called to emulate.
Co-operator Yvonne Gomes said, "It was a different experience. I felt overwhelmed with the reflection and adoration. I am proud to be a Salesian Co-operator."
