BIS #4910 HELPING FARMERS CULTIVATE CROPS

by BIS Correspondent

JAWHAR, SEP 1, 2016: Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS) organised an orientation programme on crop cultivation for 26 farmers of Jawhar and Mokhada Talukas on August 23.

The organisation constructed 26 bore wells between the months of April and May this year in a bid to help cater to the consumption and irrigation needs of people in the area. However, 12 of these bore wells failed. Hence 39 farmers from the area would use the 13 functioning wells for their irrigation needs.

With the help of the additional water at their disposal, farmer could grow crops such as drumsticks, brinjal, ladies finger and jasmine. Father Anaclete D'Mello, Director of BSVS, attended and guided the farmers at the orientation.

BSVS will provide further guidance at a later stage as well. Since few farmers are yet to get electricity connections for their bore wells, strategies were discussed at the orientation to ensure that the necessary electricity connections are established.
